Can You See Through Me - Poem by Ashley Cecil

Can you see through me
All the disguises I hide behind
Not wanting anyone to see me

For what i truly am
Can you see through me
The frown of my lips

When i smile so wide
My mouth curving up in a lie
Can you see through me

The crying out of my heart
To you are perfect sounds of joy
To me feel like the stabs of a knife
Can you see through me
My eyes that stay dull

Even through my happiest times
Never truly shining in the light
Can you see through me
Through the angry voices

Playing tricks with my mind
As I calmly say im fine
Can you see through me
The tangled lies I weave

Pleading without spoken words
For you to notice and help me.
