Convivial Collaboration - Poem by Kelly Kurt

The right's not the opposite of the left
The left's not the opposite of the right
To fight is not the opposite of peace
And peace is not the opposite of fight
It seems so many things are polarized
If it's not the best, it must be the worst
If something is only the last resort
Then something else must surely be the first
As far as I can see, with common sense
It can't be lost if it never was found
The precise center is rarely the way
But there can often be some common ground

It is unfortunately the same picture everywhere. Politics, with my understanding of it, was supposed to be a discourse of various ideologies. But now everyone is just too damn interested in finding power and pleasing voters, who are, nevertheless, to keep it mild, idiots. Thank you for sharing Kelly. A well crafted poem. (Report) Reply

It is a global phenomenon. So sad

A poem that makes us think! There are no absolutes! There is hardly a precise centre, but there is always a common ground..... Perhaps convivial collaboration and co operation can brighten every phase of our life and activity! A 10 (Report) Reply

It makes no sense to staunchly oppose and get nowhere

It seems so many things are polarized with something and some matters. Very amazing drafting shared on.10 (Report) Reply

Made me think of the wave being part of the ocean. So many waves but 1 ocean.
Waves breaking on the shore, but still being a part of the ocean.
    Thought provoking poem. Very good.

The sooner that attitude is taken to heart by all, the better

Very good. I can't remember any time when politics were so one-sided for both parties. (Report) Reply

It has been getting progressively worse. The tea party faction of the republican party has widened the rift

I LOVE this. Can you share this with our legislature? With our current presidential candidates? I'm all for a convivial collaboration...at ALL levels of the individual, the family, the community. This is the way towards breaking down barriers and combating inequality. (Report) Reply

There are, of course, some issues that are black and white. Most though are best settled with cooperation, mature dialogue and an honest attempt to find the best current solution. Bipartisan ideology completely turns off the process of thinking and only allows for repetitive rhetoric. The entire system requires an overhaul.
