Drinking My Tears - Poem by Kelly Kurt
The summer had been long, hot and arid
The earth cracked, like age old plaster
Brunette grass, wilted, pathetic flowers
Baby acorns dropped immature
Like spiral hatted hail
I walked the forlorn grounds at noon
Sweat vaporizing before forming beads
Leaving a mineralized scale on exposed skin
Around the side of a desiccated hydrangea
A shifting smudge Approached
A cloud of gnats eerily suspended
Some immediately committing suicide
Plunging down my throat
Or up my nose
But many others
Parched and with the will to live
Landed in my eyes
Drinking my tears

according to kelly's bio on PH, he is age-old! (i started reading it again, after a long interim, but admit i didn't finish it, .....but i'll try to remember to go back. it sounds like one of the most honest bios i've read on this site!)
SO, that was pretty OLD plaster!
damn! i thought hydrangea would end in -ia. oops! good thing i checked before lowering the boom.
but, why the capital A on Approached?
nasty gnats! i hope your tears killed them! no, i actually like gnats. poor things.

I didn't notice that capital A. I'll have to go back some time and demote it
