Fall's Love

Season of multi colored leaves,
Close friend of the maturing sun and heaven shine;
Conspiring with her how to load and bless
With real fruit the vines that end
with apples trees that multi colored leaves,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the love;
To swell the roses, and the love of nature
With a sweet Buddha; to set us love more,
And still more, later flowers for the Bumble bees
Until she thinks warm days will never cease,
For Summer passed by hot and humid to let FALL love come true

Who had not seen thee oft amid thy store?
Sometimes whoever seeks love may find
Thee sitting careless on a cleaned floor,
Thy hair soft-lifted by the cloudy wind;
Or on a half-reaped furrow sound asleep,
Drowsed with the fume of poppies, while thy hook
Spares the next dear sisters and all its twined flowers;
And sometimes like a gleaner thou dog keep
Steady thy laden head across a brook;
Or by a cider-press, with patient look,
Thou watchest the last oozings, hours by hours.

Where are the songs of Fall? Ay, where are they?
Think not of them, thou hast thy music too, - -
While calm soft Fall bloom the soft-loving day,
And touch the flowers with rosy hue;
Then in a awful choir, the small gnats mourn
Among the river sallows, borne aloft
Or sinking as the light wind lives or reborn;
And full-grown deers loud bleat from hilly mountain;
Hedge-crickets sing; and now with soft voice
The redbreast whistles from aback garden,
And gathering swallows in the skies
