Far From Home - Poem by Mariya Shostak

I'm on a ship
I'm headed for a new place
And a new life
I am far from home

My mother stayed
And my father did too
But my brother and I
We were taken

I'm headed for something new
Something scary and new
A new life, a new place
Far, far from home

My brother and I
We were in the forest
And a white man came out
And snatched us away

I'm bound for a new country
I'm going away
Never to return
And I'm far from my home
