Fast And Furious - Poem by Rayanda Arts

The commuter
speeds along
driving and texting,
music blaring
through to the cars
he's passing.
Time for a lane change,
to maneuver
into position
to reach his goal
of getting ahead
of the next guy
without changing directions.
No time
for a shoulder check,
only for a quick glance
in the rearview
to see a multitude of
regrets, failures,
disappointments, sins,
enemies, betrayals,
shameful longings,
guilty thoughts,
bitter memories,
unsettled scores,
abandoned dreams
and one last hope,
pursued by Death,
closing in on them.
Fast and furious.
