He Lied Still - Poem by Ismim Putera

He lied still,
With glittering eyes,
Counting every bits of air,
The sons were exhaling sighs,
Wondering those ‘hows and whys’.

He lied still,
Struggling with tubes,
Coiling like snakes and worms,
The daughters were holding hands,
Tears warmed up his cheek and chest.

He lied still,
Recalling old memories,
With his sons and daughters,
His tide will rise and time will flies,
In that corner I heard outburst of cries.
