I'Ve Not Tried In A While - Poem by Sumpter Carter
(I haven't written a poem in a while so I may be a little rusty)
I've not tried in a while
My heart hasn't felt the need
The cold in my heart blinds
Preventing me to spread the seed.
Even now I am averse
Not able to find the will
I am numbed by this curse
My defenses ripped in two.
I know the cure
The ultimate way to repair
I can't bring myself to return
It is too much to bear.
It shouldn't be, I know
But that doesn't aid the way I feel
My heart is blackened with dirt
The wounds just need time to heal.
