In Between The Lines

Poem by Michael Heraly

In between the lines
Of dark and light
Is the nervous, the unsure
Unready to fight

In between the lines
Of right and wrong
Is the woman with voice
Who can sing no song

In between the lines
Of empty and full
Is strife and anger
A power struggle too dull

In between the lines
Of love and hate
Are the lies, resentment
Bringing a limbo state

In between the lines
Of reality and dreams
Is the discovered false hope
Or so it seems

In between the lines
Guarantees to leave a scar
Danger awaits in each corner
But indeed, it's where we are
