It's Not Right - Poem by Peggy Dotson

I wanna be your only lady
but it wouldn't be right
i want to be with you
but it wouldn't be right
i want to know that you are mine
but it wouldn't be right
i want to give you all of me
yet it wouldn't be right.

i know i am in love with a married man
and yes it's not right
i want to spend the rest of my life with him
and yet it's not right
i want you to make love to me each and every night
and yet it's not right

i want to tell you how i feel
and let you know that my love for you is real
i want to tell you to leave your wife
and come live with me for the rest of your life

i want to tell you that if you do leave
i will try my best everyday to please
you with everything that i can
secure in the fact that you are my man

but these things i will never ask you to do
i would never try to put you through
these complex feelings that are locked up tight
just want you to know i love you so much and i kow it's not right
