Just A Branch

Rating: 5.0
It came forth in Spring, after the Winter's cold
On a chilly morn, the bud protruded bold
Then the sun enticed and with warm beams led
To the precise path, for the young branch to spread

Unhindered it advanced and rapidly grew
And with the rest blended; led by nature true
Now unwelcomed lichens came with windblown spores
And unwanted mosses dropped by to explore
The branch now burdened and heavily festooned

A life cycle. From early promise to overcoming obstacles to being overwhelmed by circumstances...to awaiting the opportunity to return. This branch does teach a lesson for living. Great poem, Loke.

What a beautiful descriptive write about this lovely little trees' life seasonal cycle. Also made me feel a little guilty to get into our small orchard and do a little overdue maintenance...lol

Look at it this way my dear friend, pruning is essential to keep a 'plant' healthy. I do it on a regular basis; otherwise the 'plant' will be infested with fungi and other unwelcome parasites. Thank you for your lovely comment.

An amazing poem on the beauty of nature. I want to rate this poem but I don't no why I fail to rate any poem from any poet. Either it's a hacker or a virus in my computer.

The branch now burdened and heavily festooned/Like an overgrown hedge; needing to be pruned/Occasional winds blew and put it to test/But it held on firm and always came out best..beautiful expression! The depth of your poetic imagination is so immaculate!

This is a write nonpareil....! ! I am rather short of words to say how much I enjoyed it! What meticulous details, what fantastic rhyme, what perfect diction! The branch with lichens and mosses covered made a tough fight for survival and braved all vagaries of seasonal changes! I cannot say which stanza is better! You have given us a real treat.....! Thank you!

Loke, this is such a wonderful poem. I love trees and you have gone a step further - a whole poem on a branch. I like the way a little bud protruded into a branch and the various challenges it faced. Beautifully written with such sensitivity. I loved the poem.......100+++.
