Letter In The Mailbox - Poem by sakshi mathur

i found a letter in my mailbox
but it was'nt addressed to anyone
it smelled as a pair of dirty socks
it couldn't be handled by everyone

i thought of opening it but
it could be antharax
i thought of leaving it but
it could be something which could not be faxed

i became quite inquisitive
and tried to open it
as it was difficult to live
without having any knowledge of it

finally it was out of the envelope
but opening it was difficult
somehow i had to cope
thinking it was not too difficult

no one was in my house
as they had gone to the mall
i opened it; but like a mouse
it said ' can i be ur pen-pal? '
