Maybe I - Poem by Lynzi Berner

Why must I drown
in my sorrow?
Pouring my pain out in words
that you will never read

Why must I cling to the embers
of our love
burning my soul
and keeping the pain alive

Maybe I hope that
you'll return
You'll come back to me and whisper
I still love you

Maybe I am waiting
for the silence to take me
and leave me to my
loneliness

or

Maybe
just maybe
you were my
once in a lifetime

And I am only trying to
immortalize our love

My bittersweet taste
of eternity
