My Time - Poem by Prudence Mathebula

Time that came unexpected
Time, which was not anticipated
Dreams not yet fulfilled
Success not entirely lived
That day you were chosen
Leaving hearts so cold and yet not frozen
Your name aloud twas spoken
Amongst all and a couple dozen

Life a temporary gift
Evil must completely shift
This is a war, the victory is to be saved
Lord forgive my sins, I’m feeling so ashamed
Redeem my soul and take me to heaven
Turn a blind eye to zillion sins times eleven
Away from suffering each day of these seven
Take my hand and allow me into your haven

Wasted opportunities
Destructive infidelities
My youth allows me to be negligent
No repentance unto the Lord I could have sent
My family I undermined
Evil I entertained and dined
Chances for truth yet I lied
Now its too late, no place to hide

Tis time I leave you all behind
Peace I'm yearning and must find
The Devil is ready to take over my mind
Good-bye now, you were all so kind

Peace I yearned and didn’t find
The Devil has taken over my mind
If only I could come back and acknowledge you were kind
Its too late, now I must die
