My What Ifs - Poem by Colleen Delaney

what if......
he never loved me,
i never hurt myself,
i never danced,
i never sang,
i had stopped it from happening?

questions,
pondered,
by all..
but why?

wasting life,
through,
useless questions.

time taken,
to ask these questions,
useless now.

what if,
questions were never asked,
people accepted me as me.

why should I,
bring myself
to standards?

wasting breaths
on these questions,
why not just,
live?

live,
as though death,
is about to,
come knocking.

love,
as if you,
never will be pained,
not by him.

learn,
all you can,
everywhere.

don't waste life,
with your what ifs.
