Oh, My Heart Goes On A' Beating - Poem by Catlin L. Crawford

Every moment away from thee my luve
Is like a moment spent in vain
And though I hold you in my heart
My soul, ‘tis in awful pain

For I ache to feel you in my embrace
Oh, I yearn to feel your touch
Still my heart goes on a’ beating
Though it aches for thee so much

Every heartbeat and pause my luve
It aches for thee, my dear
But my heart goes on a’ beating
And sheds not a single tear

For ‘tis not o’ long a wait my luve
Till ‘a see your shining face
And soon enough our time shall come
When I melt in your embrace

So my heart goes on a’ beating
Awaiting and beating for thee
Oh, my heart goes on a’ beating
For with you it aches to be
