Last day of January

More cold is surely pending
But spring is coming to mind

With each passing day of winter, you are coming closer to the lovely spring.....! Let this optimism help you to pull through the biting cold! (Report) Reply

Yes, Spring, the rebirth of everything that cold winter has taken.
    Except ourselves.

Mar first the baseball spring league starts Baseball is the only sport I continually follow. I would throw out the TV without baseball. I haven't looked up how to write a tanka but soon. if we go by syllable it is 57577 (Report) Reply

That's the count. The piece is supposed to have a shift in it

In between optimism and pessimism there is a buffer zone of thoughtful realism and Kelly Kurt is a poet who dwells there. (Report) Reply

Although tomorrow it will be a messy day of snow, sleet and freezing rain; it will be another day closer to spring. : -)
    Thanks, Akhtar

We don't have snow in this part of India, where I live, but the Spring is certainly arriving, and it is really nice to have that season come. When I was younger I wrote love poems during Spring, now a little oder (a few hundred years) , I wish to just get my lazy a*** out of bed at morning without feeling like being pinched with a thousand needles... A fine offering Kelly. Thank you for sharing.. (Report) Reply

Spring is leaving tomorrow. We're getting 8-12 tomorrow. You? I do find these little respites interesting though. Kind of shocking when the coat is unnecessary for like a day or two! I wrote a poem about this kind of intermission, called Winter Wine. Thanks for sharing Kelly! :) (Report) Reply

Yuck! We're getting a wintry mix but accumulation will be minimal. Upper mid-west gets 6 seasons.: -)

Sometimes a nice spell causes trees to bloom early and then a cold blast kills them off

What one sees, feels and like to see and feel are all gimmicks, mind is playing. It is a part of life, indeed. Philosophical and thought provoking. X (Report) Reply
