Poisonous Words - Poem by ceyi ceyi laflen

Poison apple peices
play between my lips
and i wonder if i should spit them out,
burning the very air around us
and melting the time that passed
between us.
Bitter and foul,
they choke me,
contemptible in their unyeilding presence.
what are these choices,
these words,
so terrible that they,
when spoken,
seem almost satisfying,
quenching?
what are these words
that they could have such power
to destroy?
