Quillomene - Poem by Thayne Tuason

Where the elk roam
and the sagegrouse call home
coyotes howl at the moon
and lupine with balsamroot bloom
with the Columbia flowing beside

with its wide open views
and many trails to choose
its a wonder one would pick
such a name like Whiskey Dick
to call the tallest mountain.

Poet's Notes about The Poem

A poem about a little known area called Quillomene, one of the few truly wild areas left prior to wind farms overrunning the area in the past few decades. http: //wdfw.wa.gov/lands/wildlife_areas/lt_murray/Quilomene/
