Resistance Poem by Mohammad Yousef

Resistance

By Mohammad A. Yousef

In the shadow of fences and walls,
where voices rise in whispers,
lives remain untold,
and hearts beat with courage,

freedom flows through cracked sidewalks,
where dreams once painted in colors,
now turn gray under the weight of force,
but still, they rise, again and again.

Every morning, the sun breaks open the sky,
the smell of hope wafts through the air,
calling the brave, calling the bold,
to stand, to shout, to hold their ground.

This land knows the strength of hands,
that lift burdens, that build bridges,
against the tide of heavy boots,
heavy chains ringing out for silence.

No soldier's march, no badge of power
can silence the heart that beats for justice,
the spirit that dances on every stone,
that yearns to be free, unchained, alive.

History speaks through the scars of the earth,
through the voices of those who stood firm,
those who whispered courage into cold winds—
**"We will not comply, we will not bow."**

Bullets may fall like rain,
producing shadows that cover the sun,
but a spark ignites in every whisper:
"Together, we are more than their fear."

With hands held high against the night,
we embrace every child's laughter,
every story shared in the silence,
every breath that demands to be heard.

Men and women, standing shoulder to shoulder,
the young and the old united as one,
they know the truth, they feel the truth,
'Resisting occupation is our right, it is legal."

So let the banners fly like wide-open wings,
let the people gather, unafraid,
for every act of defiance today,
is a song for tomorrow, is a pledge to the stars.

And when the night closes in again,
remember, that even in darkness,
light flickers and sparks change,
from mere whispers to roars that shake the ground.

We are not merely shadows;
we are thunder—
resist, endure, dream,
for this is our journey, our fight,
and together, we are unstoppable.
