Round After Round - Poem by ryan dainiel brown

Ring the bell
Let the beating end
My hands heavy
My face battered

Jabs and haymakers
Quick and powerful
My hands drop
Weak and defenseless

Darkness falls
Eyes swollen
Jaw broken
I am no more

Ding, ding
Pain subsides
Tests disappear
Papers no more

I cling to you
My corner
Your love
Cleansing water

You are my escape
My frontier
May it last forever
Ding, ding

I stand
Bruised and broken
I will fight
And I will win

Bring your worse
Pain, suffering
Old and futile
Lesser foes

I am Rocky
No belt
But love forever
Champion the same
