Running From Memories - Poem by Lynzi Berner

I've run
out of places
to run to

you are
everywhere
I go

Damn you

just when
I think
you're finally gone
I open
my eyes
and you are there

run
hide
cry
beg
for mercy
from the one
who is
almost heartless

You lick
your wounds
as you
pour salt
in mine

all I wanted
was to be
wanted
by you
I was
then I was
cast aside
to try and die
on my own

you could not
have been more
cruel
if you tried

hell
you were cruel
without trying
now
I run
searching
for a piece
of earth
free
from you
and all the
memories
that keep
me running
