She Didn'T Expect Me - Poem by (brief renderings) Joe Fazio
Quickly I opened the door. Sweat covered
her body as she sat on the rumpled, gray
soiled sheets. They looked like gray clouds
on a December day.
The louvered closet doors still shook from
just being shut. I glanced at the bathroom,
the toilet seat...up.
She look at me...a long mournful empty
stare. Her face...the room had said it
I was in the wrong place. At the wrong
time. With the wrong girl.
