Take Me Away - Poem by Steven L. Mattes

I'm in a daze
I sit and stare off into space
in my catatonic state
I ponder & contemplate
Life and what it means
Death is all that I see
and the devil walks among man
please believe me
Life is a test
and this test begins when
we make our first choice
as an independant
the children of the world,
we cherish & love them
but the world that we give them
robs the innocence from them
we're all classmates
in humanity's school,
where Professor Society
teaches Me to hate You
the world is what we make it
and it's up to us
to see this mess we made
and clean it up
so go ahead & keep bragging
on how good you got it,
it's a slap in the face
when your on the bottom
I wanna fly away
or either die today
something's gotta break
God, take me away.

Some original lines in here, Steven. 'Professor Society teaches Me to hate You' is one. Thought-provoking stuff. A bit disturbing but a well-written piece.

    Love, Fran xx
