Taking Chances - Poem by Melissa Furey

Have you ever felt Lost on a island in the dark
You still have that inner spark
But you not sure what direction to take
You just stay where you are so you wont make a mistake

Every time you move something goes wrong
You lost hope and the strength to stay strong
You call for help but no one is there
You begin to think if there is anyone who actually cares

You struggle to manage on your own
You feel helpless and alone
But as time goes by you move forward
You take a chance and at first its strange and awkward

But as time goes by you feel as if your back on dry land
Where you find people who understand
You are grateful for friends and family
For helping you through the hard time and finally living happy

Topic(s) of this poem: depression, island, loneliness, lost
