Terror Of The Virus (Coronavirus 2021)

Old grandmother, isolated in lock-down against Coronavirus
Not seeing children or grandchildren, many years a widow
With only pet dog for company and budgie in a cage
Daily fears the virus will strike her into the grave.
Spends her days worrying about family and friends
Speaking with them on the telephone, seeing them on skype
As they try keeping her spirits bright and hope alive.
Nights are the worst, lying abed, mind engulfed with terrors.
One day she begins to cough, finding it hard to breathe
Has a temperature, tiring climbing stairs, needing to rest.
She calls the doctor, an ambulance takes her to hospital
Where doctors and nurses fight for her life.
Alone without family she dies another victim of the epidemic
One among millions mourned world-wide.
