The Lover Or The Leaver - Poem by Keith John Robertson

My pillow
lies heaped on the floor,
thats where I threw it
when the door
slammed
shut
behind you,
crying myself blind,
my head hurts,
my eyes sting,
I'd given you everything

but,
still,
you wanted more.

With all
the arguments
under no circumstance
would you have stayed!
who knows
the role I would have played?
The lover?
or, the leaver?
you convinced a non-believer.

but,
still,
you needed more.
