The Minds Tricks - Poem by Emma Hall

Flashing through the darkness
Haunting all your dreams
Licking at your conscience
Showing where it deems
You’re not sure if you see it
Or if it’s just your mind
It’s not by the side of you
You chance a glance behind
You stop and see what happens
And before you can even blink
It’s right there in front of you
You don’t have time to think
It’s lightning sharp coat
Of blazing white and brown
It blue eyes of endless limits
You feel like you could drown
And now it’s up beside you
Licking at your hand
You put your hand on top it
And trace its silvery brand
Then it races to the darkness
You blink and it is gone
Left to see your thoughts again
They seem to weigh a ton
It’s image sticks in your mind
You are sure that it was here
But is your mind deceiving you
It isn’t really clear
