The Smell Of Her Was In The Air - Poem by Richard Steinmueller

The smell of her was in the air today,
I can not explain, no I can not complain.

And bordering the clouds
Soft, baby blue filled the sky.
As I walked along shore,
I couldn’t help but wonder if I
Had given it all up,
For the scent of love flying by.

I thought to retrace my steps in the sand.
Matching my feet to the holes,
My pup raised up his nose,
To the tranquility of her smell once again.

So graceful in her ways,
She never fails to brighten my days.
Even when she’s not around.
Even when she doesn’t feel the same.

The smell of her was in the air today,
And I can not explain, oh no I can not complain.
