This One's For You - Poem by Josefine Carrion

Have I ever told you that
just to have you here
has made things worth while,
to know you can
make me smile once again.
To look into your eyes makes it all clear.
I understand: no looking back
no more fears;
I will let go and forget.
Now I move towards the one
who is my sun……

Today I realized
you did what no one else dared,
you achieved an ending to pain,
a renaissance of a lost soul, lost hope, and wilted dreams.
You helped me find the child who lost her way,
who hid awaiting for the friendly hand
that would hold her and wipe the tears;
the bearer of a kind word
when all she heard was silence;
the provider of a warm, contagious smile
that would lift her spirits.

Here I am,
kneeling before you,
arms wide open,
inner-self in balance,
free from sadness,
allowing you to hold my heart in your hands,
knowing you will be kind.

This is more than a thank you,
this is more than a gracious bow, hats off to you;
this is more…
this is from ME to YOU.
