I have just read A True Welcome Within All Eyes and was impressed by its combination of the celestial, natural and mechanical worlds. Also by a measure of cool intelligence and (com) passion behind the poem's charm. To take that measure in full will clearly call for a great deal more reading of this poet's work - on the evidence of this brief acquaintance, no troublesome task.

You are evidently an extremely gifted young poet. Ireland needs some new talented writers and I believe you are one of them. I note you won First Prize at Listowel Writer's Week in 2006. Congratulations on your excellent work. I look forward to reading more of it.

Those sworn in blood to live wild and die young.

Although, too soon, their songs will leave the lung,
Their laughter and unhesitating sight
Live on forever in their joys re-sung.

Their eyes are fire, their hearts and nerves unstrung,
Inside them flows the stars and dancing light,
Those sworn in blood to live wild and die ...

the far hill
trees shrouded in
like mist.
not mist
light rain –
