Born and raised in New Jersey, Shani gained a passion for writing poetry when she was 13 years old. One of her earliest motivating factors was her encouraging eigth grade English teacher, Mr. Higgins who provided a platform for discovering oneself through the written word. Shani developed a passion for writing articles on Puerto Rican anthropology and global social issues. Her interests are varied and include culture, languages, etymology, and science. Intermittently, she studies subjects such as the Geisha in Japan and the trafficking of women in Asia, while she also conducts independent studies on genetics, evolution, Darwinism and other scientific related issues.
