A New World Identity - Poem by Mary Mc Creath

To move beyond a savior centered group
Where each one knows what all of us should do
They help the poor, the sick, the lame whoever.

They go where none else would want to go
To save the helpless with the greatest need.
They rile the isolationist, who stays,
With what they know and who they serve.

They raise a cry for us to see and be with them! ! ! !

Oh! Please! Leave preaching with a fiery tongue.
Of what we all are meant to be and do and where to go
Come learn to listen with an open mind and heart
And realize were different, though not so far apart

In what we see of how our life should be.

Know that it is ok to see a different way to be and do,
All need is there and some can see and be with it.
For if we follow you today the need we meet would
Soon be like your own, a crisis calling for a different tone.

So what is this life about on planet earth?
And how can we be one and do
What all of us see and need to be
True to whom we think we are in our identity?

The call to move beyond, beyond and take a chance
To come see a land beyond our simple stance.
To see a place where all of us are one
Beneath the sun.

In peace and joy to celebrate that we have come so far
To share with everyone and world that’s near
To listen beyond our local to our global world without fear
And see that we at heart are non-local and a part

Of all that’s is,

To look at our great universe to see whom we truly are,
And come to know that each of us was/is part of every star.
