A Story Of Unrequited Love - Poem by Ros Venn

There once was a girl,
Of whom I felt so deeply,
That when we talked,
Time went by so fast that day became night in seconds,

I think she was the only one,
That I would actually listen to what they said.

I've known her since I was thirteen,
Over the years I grew fond of her,
But as one of the greatest castrophies of the 21st century,
I got friend zoned

There was a guy who always had her attention more than I,
He had all the girls falling over for him,
For many years him and I were great allies,

But the day of the big dance,
I glanced over at him and her,
As they kissed and flirted,
I became victim to my own jealously,

She was my plus one to the dance not his,
I felt my heart shatter as I realized,
That I would never be the one for her,

I lost two friends that day,
The girl I loved and my best friend,

Now a few years have gone by and I forget what it felt like to talk to her,
As our conversations have grown fake and short,
It is as if we never knew each other
