Dreamer - Poem by Dilantha Gunawardana

I scanned the world like a top
Pirouetting round and round
To find my niche, my place in this world
Only to be sucked in by my own vertigo
Until I found myself under layers of fears
That I could not relinquish or molt
Dreams that were bound by a wall of amniotic fluid
Where I nested as a closet dreamer
Too afraid to soar to the levity of one dream
To know for a mere passing second
I wasn't just a dust particle in the wind
But a bird with sinews and wings

But a bird with sinews and wings

Verily, to realize our dreams, we should be very strong.
