Flower Fields

Although we were from different flower fields, my garden loved yours

We talked about how we'd find the roots to our flowers and connect them

And if we couldn't find the roots we'd make the roots because excuses and our petals do not go hand in hand

You grew tulips and sunflowers in my field while I grew roses and lilies in yours

We'd water us with eternal rivers of love

And our mutual understanding of how cruel the world could be

We promised that the bees would not get between us, but they eventually did

Look around, thorns have grown, my petals no longer show

The bee society anchored my roots so I could no longer tie them with yours

The bees stole my nectar and it wasn't to nourish my other selves

And now I am left with nothing but broken promises and a broken water hose
