Frodo - Poem by Ashlee Rendor

I woke up this morning feeling like Frodo
That despite my size I could do anything
Knowing that even if the evil lord: quarterback,
tried to stop me
Me and my fellowship of 9th graders
would mess him up good
It’s nice to wake up feeling like Frodo
I normally wake up
with the all seeing eye
on me…and its always looking down
But not today!
Today I am Frodo Baggins!

Today I am Frodo Baggins!
But I have to wonder why Frodo did it
Why he would choose to save a world that has done nothing for him
A world that has branded him inferior because of his size
And while I woke up feeling like Frodo this morning
I’m not sure I want to save a world
that doesn’t believe
I’m good enough for it

So what’s a Frodo to do?
Should he have to save the world
for people to see his worth
For people to stop looking down on him
Or should he just be accepted
because he lives on middle earth
So maybe I don’t want
the burden Frodo had
Maybe I would rather just
put on the ring and hide
Because at least then…
My invisibility is my choice.
