I Know We'Re Just Friends But This Is How I Feel - Poem by JeanClaude Levasseur

I know I’ve said this before
To other people
But when I say it to you
It feels different
You bring out the best in me
And I like that
You’re always cheery and happy
And I like that about you
The few times I’ve known you were upset
I wished I could've been there at your side
To wipe away your tears
Take away your pain and hold you close to me
Till you were happy again
I never thought I’d feel this way about you
I’ve always thought of you as a good friend
Someone I could trust
Someone who could be there for me
When I needed guidance or advice
And would be able to help me through rough times
So far you've been all that
And to me you've been even more
Probably more than you've ever known
But now I want to be more
You’re more than just a good friend to me now
You’re someone I can love
Someone I can care for
And someone I never want to lose
When I am with you
I feel like I’ve found what
I’ve been missing all my life
And the whole time it was there
Right in front of my face
And I was blind
Because I did not see you there
But the veil has been lifted now
And I can see you more clearly
I can see your beautiful sunlit face
Your eyes that sparkle like stars
Your amazing smile that never fades
You’re the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen
And the whole time
You were right there
Close enough for me to touch
But I was blinded and dumb
I was blind because I did not see what I always had
And when I finally did see you and what I had
I was dumb because I kept listening to my thoughts
Instead of trusting my heart
And I realize now I’ve made a dreadful mistake
I’ve passed by you for far to long
And I’ve waited too long since I could see
To tell you how I feel
And now I fear it’s too late
You were there for me when I was down and out
You always knew how to cheer me up
You have always been there for me
And you're the one person I could always count on
There has never been something I couldn't tell you
It’s always been easy talking to you
But saying whets I'm about to say now
Is more difficult than anything else
I’m taking a chance
And might lose you forever
Or maybe become closer than ever
But I have to tell you this
I’m sure we'll remain friends no matter what
But if I tell you
And you don’t feel the same way I do
Things might change between us
And I don’t want to lose a friend like you
But I have to tell you this now
To me you are the light at the end of the tunnel
I’d give up anything to be with you
As I say this I feel like
I’m dangling from a single thread
Hundreds of feet above the ground
And what happens to me next
Depends on you
So here it goes
I like you more than just a friend
And probably more than you'll ever know
So what do you say you give me a chance
And see what we can become
We might just end up going back to good friends
Or maybe we'll become something more
Because I like you
But I don’t know how you feel
And I don’t want things to change between us
But I guess I'm asking you to let me have a chance
Life’s about taking risks,
Playing games,
And having fun
And right now I’m taking a risk
I’m jumping from a plane
And hoping the parachute will open
But if it doesn't
I know you'll still be there for me
Just like god will be there when I hit the ground
So here it goes
How about we take a chance
See what life throws at us
And find out where we end up
Because I like you
But I’m not really sure how you feel about me
So I guess what I’ve been trying to say is
Do you like me as more than just a friend?

wayy tooo long! for a free verse this is the longest I've ever seen in my life! ! you could turn this into 3 different poems if you used precise verbs! Also, restating the same thing multiple times does not make the poem better! You should try to take out all the fluff and condense it into a really good piece of poetry. There's potential and the idea is a seldom picked topic when it comes to poetry so pick this poem back up and turn it into a piece of art that stands head and shoulders above others in it's league! !
