If It Was A Book - Poem by Kelly Kurt

If my life was a book
It would be on a shelf
In a cobwebbed library
The jacket, long disintegrated
The cover, faded and stained
Two chapters, titled
Before and After
The solitary reader

I am one of these stubborn old coots that will not accept a poem unless it rhymes (a necessary discipline in my opinion)) ... However, I enjoyed the concept of a life and a book immensely. I would have missed it had I not been checking you out. I shall read a few more of your undisciplined scribbles with anticipation. ta Wes (Report) Reply

We old coots have our idiosyncrasies. I cringe when rhymes are forced, especially when they end up making no sense to me. I do have some rhyming material posted though

So nicely and vividly painted the lif e as a book. Interesting and didactic. Thanks for sharing. ....10 (Report) Reply

Perhaps the book will become a movie, played in an abandoned theater.: -)

Poignant. Yes - time is the solitary reader of our lives though most of us boast to have accomplished a lot. (10) (Report) Reply

Thank you, Madathil. Perhaps the epilog will be gracious

Our lives are libraries filled with all sorts of books, some well worn others never read. Good poem (Report) Reply

Our Lives are like a book that we can leave pages of interest for when we are gone.
There is hidden mystery in your words. Thank you

Our Book is never fully read by any one individual.

Melancholic thoughts of a life's work, sitting idle and alone, no one bothering to find out what went missing. Vivid picture of your words filled my mind as I read this poem. Thank you for sharing. RoseAnn (Report) Reply
