It's Own Country Song - Poem by Gabrielle Darnall
It was that by the touch of your hand I would melt;
By the kiss of your mouth I would be drunk with love.
Once into the light again I could see— your ways for what they really were.
And now that you have found yourself in the arms of another;
God’s grace has set me free—
Free from haunting memories,
Free from the tie that once bound our souls together
And free to say he’s yours God do what you have to do to draw him back to you.
Free from you.
Free in the Spirit.
Free to once again spread my wings and fly.
No need to worry about what I would have lost staying with you.
No hurry or worry making this into its own country song.
Because it has been times like this in which I learn and grow the most—
So thank you for the blessings that come from being strong enough to walk away—
Thank you for giving me another opportunity to be refined by fire.
Now I set you free— forgiven
And in God’s hands—
Because as much as you claim that I ground you—
He is the only one who has that much power.
May peace be with you in Christ Jesus.
