Man - Poem by Carl A.I.

I missed your call
you missed my cues
By now we should be old lovers
instead we are young and fresh;
like loaves of bread that haven't even been baked.
Still God looks down upon us and smiles
dEja vu
he should have smiled three years ago.
You are the finish line
of my race through
meaningless, countless, bad in bed
lovers. I fell in love with you while I was asleep
March 03,2004.
I woke up feeling familiar
my hands were cradling your heart
each beat
represented a minute, a day, a year,
that I have wasted.
I am a man. We all make mistakes.
Just don't take them with you to the grave.
