On Turning 15 - Poem by James Pampeyan
On Turning 15
These past years have
Memories, places I have been,
People I have met,
And things I have been through.
The bang of a shotgun creating orange dust
A new school that I had to adjust
Playing video games as they made me cuss.
Even as young as 8
I was introduced to the sadder side of life
Where loved ones go away
And go to a better place
Also at 10 and 14
But, when you realize that they are gone
The only things left are the positive memories
They left behind
15 years of love, hate, laughter, crying
Has made me into who I am today.
