Paragraph Junkie - Poem by Renee Jeremiah

this is the magic the power
of a rushing need reaching
seeds sprouting
from e.e Cummings
and Laura Esquivels and hands
that couldn’t be sated by
just seeing and took the world
and gave into its
desire
getting high on words and
enigmatic imagery
each world like a shot of
tequila burning down
yourmind instead of your
throat and lifting
you higher than you’d everbeen since their
eyes were watching god
since Zora unleashed her wrath and
every bead of
sweat carousing downyour forehead was
felt while waiting for that next shiver of
rubber band and needle against
pastyslick
skin that
foretold the next
hit of scripture
