The Single Mum - Poem by Mr William King

Just one night of passion,
A man who wouldn't stay!
A tiny life inside her grows,
Yet she wont regret that day!
Strong enough to go alone,
The path to parenthood,
Long talks about her options,
But now it's understood!
She's going to keep the baby,
There's lots she has to give!
There never was a maybe,
The child deserves to live!
She knows it wont be easy,
At times she'll want to cry!
Yet it will all be worth it,
As the days and years go by!
She'll wake at night with worry,
Will she make ends meat?
Clothes to buy from just one wage,
Shoes to put on feet!
To be both, mother and father,
Strict and yet still fair!
Heart, hard enough to discipline,
Yet soft enough to care!
Head held high when talked about,
Thoughts of what's to come!
Rising above the ridicule,
'The life of a single mum'
