Sometimes the decision may seem harsh and/or unusal, but still is very important nevertheless.. At the age of eighteen when I gave up my religion and announced I am identifying myself as an atheist, there were a lot of eyebrows raised followed by a series of questions... Luckily my parents (who are both religious) supported my decision and many of my friends (who are religious) embraced me all the same.. Looking back, in the past six years, I have come a long way, lost a few friends, still answering why I went to become an atheist, but nevertheless, for me it was the right decision. Thank you Kelly. The senryu is absolutely spot on. (Report) Reply

I have long made it a practice to remove all aspects of emotion from my decision making process. Not that I do not have emotion or empathy, but correct decisions are made based on facts. I was identified as having a rarely seen intelligence when I was young. I have taken that genetic advantage and accumulated a formidably broad and deep wealth of knowledge. I have trained myself in logic, statistics, philosophy and critical thinking. I am not always right, usually because of a lack of available information, but my decisions are as 'correct' as any can be. The only problem is that I am human and often feel bad when the decision goes against someone else's wishes. Saying that it is nothing personal, seldom mollifies.

When a completely logical, necessary choice is made, it sometimes is met with a sense of indignation by those affected by it, despite it being their behavior that was responsible
