Widower? - Poem by Kelly Kurt

Technically, I’m a divorcé
Papers were signed and she’s gone away
The woman I knew, I know no more
Even before she walked out the door
I learned to endure, and mourned the loss
Retained the pleasant, released the dross
Never again, my love to show her
For I’m a soi-disant widower

Wonderful writing, Kelly. Nicely penned emotions that have a lasting effect on the reader's heart. (Report) Reply

One of the saddest things was that the sweet person I knew, didn't just change, she disappeared as though dead. I mourned the loss as much in that way as any other

    1 person liked.
    0 person did not like.

Even though the love is no longer the same it is still like a silent death when you have been living as one for some time. That red balloon was telling you something. Keep smiling. (Report) Reply

    Sad, but so well expressed,
    In many cases,
Divorce is the prelude to death.

the French, soi-disant perfectly used, intensifying the bitter conclusion.
