Déjà Vu - Poem by Eldon M Thomas
I thought I saw you again!
Didn’t know you were so close
You were outside of a white house in your sleeping clothes
It was wintertime and you didn’t have on no coat
I almost felt my heart come up in to my throat
I thought I saw you again, now I’m talking crazy
Am I going crazy? I don’t know, maybe!
Damn! This sounds a whole lot like obsession!
Maybe I should take some psychiatric sessions!
Or maybe I need to get some stress reduction lessons!
Perhaps I’m taking this the wrong way and this could be my blessing!
Honey-bun every day I daydream about seeing you again
Every so often in life, there are blessings that God will send
And in my life I do believe that you are one of them!
If that was you that I saw then it’s got to be fate
I believe that we’re going to be together, I just have to keep the faith
Only the Lord knows how long I’ll have to wait!
This patience stuff is killing me; I wish it could happen now for God’s sake!
But then, why should I wait for you when there are so many other girls?
I’m a fairly handsome guy that could have any girl in this world!
But God told me to trust him with all of my heart
And that he’s had my back from the very start!
He knew that you could wind me up and get me going
So when I asked to see “the one” he knew that it was you that he’d be showing
So next time we see each other it will be like déjà vu all over again
And you can be the sun to shine through my rain
Then I won’t see you from afar and cause myself pain…
