No Matter What - Poem by Jenny Miller

dont lie to me..

i know when the words arent true
i know because i know you

i know when i asked you that night
you werent feeling alright
but i know you
and i know those words werent true

is there someone else
i could feel it in my gut
i know you
and i know those words werent true

you said no
but you meant yes
why did you leave me to guess
i know you
and ive thought it through

if you ever do it again
i will be gone for good
is it understood
this pit in my stomach

eats away at me
until i cannot breathe

i smelled lies
on your breath that night
i tasted deceit
those secrets you keep

what if i fail again
what will happen then
will you find her
when

everything goes wrong
and the fire is gone
will you watch it burn out
or will you light the flame

love is not a game
things will never be the same
but i know you
and i know you are true

when youre dead
i can still feel your warmth
as you took me down
from the tree
you gave your hand to me

this is true
we were meant to be
and that you finally see
what you mean to me

a world without you
is no breath
no life
a young death

And though
it has pierced us
this rose..
it is a mere cut!
I love you, always and forever
no matter what
