The Fight - Poem by Kaylee Brunk

I've fought hard for my life for years
I've broken and demoralized myself, reducing me to tears
In no way can I stop or comfort my fears
Of falling forever in my emotional despair

I'm on the ground, disheartened and weak
No will to move, I'm choking on a dream
Alone with myself and my silent screams
Yet hands outstretched, I try again

I drag myself across the ground
Tears stream down my face without a sound
My soul bleeds out, my head spins 'round
As I hope and pray I will soon be found

I raise myself the best I can
I'm on my knees, alive yet dead
surrounded by spiritual blood I've bled
And I wonder just how long I can hold on

To this life that's gone so wrong
