The Guru - Poem by Karnail Singh Heirwale

A man of action
An invention of a new idiom
Cutting across the vogue
Re-creating himself with the word
Talking sides with some
And against others
No beyond
Of the world
And in the world
The speech-acts
Tripping up from
Blood, sweat and tears.
Displaced by an aesthete
By the riverside
Attracting the laity
To drink deep at the fountain
Of the Word
Sipping or gulpingtea
Down their throats
Standing by a table
On the run.
